Medical Weight Loss

Weight Loss Treatments

At LRC, we pride ourselves on not just being another weight loss clinic. We offer a different experience with Dr. Lewis being involved in every patient’s treatment. We care about each patient’s individual needs and try to partner together to find a solution that works for each patient.

Medical weight loss is a weight management approach that involves the use of medical interventions such as prescription medications, lifestyle modifications, and behavioral therapy to help individuals lose weight in a safe and effective manner. This approach is used for those who are struggling to lose weight through traditional methods like diet and exercise.

Semaglutide and Tirezepatide are medications used in medical weight loss programs and have shown to be effective in helping individuals lose weight. It works by activating GLP-1 receptors in the brain to reduce appetite and increase feelings of fullness.

It is important to note that these medications are not the magic solution for weight loss and should be used in combination with lifestyle modifications such as healthy eating and exercise. Additionally, it is only available with a prescription and should be used under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

A medical weight loss program from Dr. Lewis is designed to provide individuals with the support, guidance, and resources they need to lose weight in a safe and effective manner.

Medical Weight Loss Shots

What is Medical Weight Loss?

It’s no surprise that most weight-management efforts fail. Despite your best efforts to lose weight and keep it off, the odds of success are often against you.

As we age, our metabolism rates slow down naturally, making it hard for our bodies to efficiently process the calories we consume. Gaining excess weight can also be an adverse effect of many different medical conditions and medications, which can make any effort to exercise and eat less seem ineffective.

If you have experienced difficulty losing weight, our medical provider-supervised medical weight loss may be the answer for you.

At Lewis Rejuvenation Center, we understand how difficult losing weight can be and how important it is to your health.

The Benefits of Weight Loss

Not only do we want to improve our appearance and how we feel, being obese, or having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or more, can increase your risk of developing many serious health conditions, including:

  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • High LDL cholesterol
  • Low HDL cholesterol
  • High levels of triglycerides (dyslipidemia)
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Heart disease
  • Stroke
  • Gallbladder disease
  • Osteoarthritis
  • Sleep apnea and breathing problems
  • Some cancers (endometrial, breast, colon, kidney, gallbladder, and liver)
  • Mental illness (depression, anxiety, etc.)
  • Body pain and difficulty with physical functioning

Semaglutide

Medical Weight Loss Treatment

How Does Semaglutide Work?

  • Reduces food intake by lowering appetite by suppressing the part of the brain that drives food craving.
  • Slows food digestion in the stomach (feeling full for longer periods of time)
  • Decreases body fat percentage
  • Weight loss
  • Decreases cardiovascular outcomes in subjects with type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
  • Helps lower blood sugar by making insulin work better, thus reducing the impact of insulin which is a hormone that stimulates obesity.

Semaglutide/BPC-157/B6

Once a week injection

BPC-157, composed of 15 amino acids, is a partial sequence of body protection compound (BPC) that is discovered in and isolated from human gastric juice. It has been demonstrated to accelerate the healing of many different injuries, including tendons, muscles, nervous system and superior healing of damaged ligaments. BPC-157 aids in overall tissue repair by increasing blood flow to your damaged tissues. It is also an anti-inflammatory, meaning it aids in the production and healing of your inflamed intestinal tissues.

Vitamin B6 is a vitamin that benefits the central nervous system and metabolism. Its roles include turning food into energy and helping to create neurotransmitters, such as serotonin and dopamine. It has also been known to aid in decreasing nausea symptoms. Some studies show negative side effects of Semaglutide may include nausea, diarrhea and even vomiting. The addition of BPC-157 and B6 can help decrease/prevent these symptoms.

Tirzepatide

Hair, Skin, Nails

Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP) are hormones involved in blood sugar control. Tirzepatide is a first-in-class medication that activates both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors. It is a GIP-analogue that activates both the GLP-1 and GIP receptors, leading to improved blood sugar control.

How is it different from Semaglutide?

  • Tirzepatide has a greater affinity to GIP receptors than to GLP-1 receptors, and this dual agonist behavior has been shown to produce greater reductions of hyperglycemia compared to a selective GLP-1 receptor agonist.

Formulations available at LRC:

  • Tirzepatide/B12: (Once a week injection)
B12 works by converting the food we eat into sugar and other types of fuel that keep the body running smoothly. B12 is often associated with weight loss because of its ability to boost metabolism and provide lasting energy.
